Welcome

The General Teaching Council for Wales protects the public by ensuring that teachers are appropriately qualified and that they maintain high standards of conduct and practice. It works on behalf of teachers to advise government and others on teaching and learning issues. The GTCW also administers Assembly funding for teacher development.

The registration fee year ends on 31st March. Renewal forms have been sent to those teachers who pay directly. Not received yours - contact the Registration Team. You can also check your record online by clicking here.

CPD Funding

Plenty of funding is still available in this financial year.  Unused funds are returned to the assembly.  Further details here.

The Welsh Assembly Government has announced that the programme will close at the end of this financial year. Read GTCW press release here.

Induction & EPD Funding

New teacher- in years 1 to 3? Starting Induction or EPD?  Ensure that you access your £3,700 entitlement for statutory Induction or the £1,000 EPD entitlement in your second and third years of teaching.  Please note: Induction and EPD funding is unaffected by WAG's announcement that the CPD funding programme will close at the end of this financial year.
