GTCW administers some parts of the funding for Induction and EPD on behalf of the Welsh Government. When a maintained school in Wales appoints a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) for a period of employment which will count towards the NQT’s Induction period then the following steps must be taken by the school to ensure that appropriate funding is released to the school:
| STEP 1 | An NQT Induction Record must be submitted to GTCW by the school on the appointment of the NQT but at the latest within 10 working days of commencement of employment which will count towards Induction. |
| STEP 2 | Once a teacher has completed a term of Induction an Induction Assessment Record must be submitted by the school to the Induction Coordinator at the Local Authority (the LA is the Appropriate Body for Induction). |
Schools should notify GTCW’s Induction and EPD Funding Team and the LA of any changes to an NQT’s employment or contract as this could impact on the teacher’s Induction period.
If a teacher leaves employment before completing Induction a Transfer Form must be submitted within 15 working days of the teacher leaving the school.
LAs have local arrangements in place with regard to the return date of the Induction Assessment Records; this is to allow the LA time to undertake their role as the Induction Appropriate Body and subsequently to notify GTCW of individuals completing a term of by the required date.
On receipt of the notifications from the LA GTCW will release funding to the school.
Please note the dates below, by which, GTCW has requested that LAs submit the required information to GTCW. If the school does not submit the paperwork to the LA in advance of these dates GTCW will be unable to release the Induction funding to the school.
