Teachers Urged To Seize Development Opportunities
Teachers across Wales are being invited to contribute to the ongoing pilot for the Chartered Teacher Programme being run by the General Teaching Council for Wales (GTCW).
With nearly half the pilot modules already successfully running, teachers interested in signing up for the next phase of the pilot modules now have just three weeks left to register their interest online or by post.
Teachers with at least five years experience are eligible to become involved in the Chartered Teacher pilot modules. Already six modules have been piloted and the next three modules will start in September. Previous modules have been fully subscribed and so teachers interested in being part of the next modules need to get in touch with the GTCW before June 20th.
The three modules due to be piloted at the start of next term are – ‘Learning, teaching and assessment’; ‘The pedagogical application of ICT in learning and teaching’, and ‘Leading the learning’ - a module focused on middle leadership
Speaking on the success of the Chartered Teacher pilot to date, deputy chief executive of GTCW, Hayden Llewellyn, said: “The Chartered Teacher pilot has been extremely well received and all the modules have been fully subscribed. I would urge those interested in participating in the remaining modules to register their interest. The piloting process is a vitally important stage to test out the most appropriate forms of professional learning and assessment with highly skilled teachers. What we learn from the independent evaluation of the pilot will feed into decisons about the shape of any mainstreamed Chartered Teacher Programme..”
Teachers interested in being involved in September’s pilot modules should visit the GTCW website to register their interest and apply for an application pack.
